McCains Change

McCain's Change

In 2000, Bush’s vicious campaign crushed McCain. During Bush’s first term we saw McCain “the maverick”. He worked with Democrats on steadying relations with Vietnam, campaign-finance reform, and immigration reform. He co-sponsored bills with John Edwards and Edward Kennedy. In 2001 and 2003, he voted against the Bush tax cuts and co-sponsored bills with John Kerry and Joe Lieberman. He was against off shore drilling. McCain was so angry with Bush and his extreme right-wing ideology, in 2004, he nearly joined democrat John Kerry.

But since 2004, with his intense desire for the Presidency, McCain moved to the right paying homage to Jerry Falwell, abandoning immigration reform, giving up his ban on torture and pronouncement to continue the Bush tax cuts for corporations which would benefit the wealthy.

McCain kissed Bush’s ring and got his endorsement. As we see McCain’s campaign repeatedly hit the wall, in hindsight, this was a very bad move indeed.
