McCain Sucks, Palin Sucks = No Bush left behind

McCain’s NASTY despicable Robo Calls

Posted on: October 18, 2008

There’s now a robocall going out that says this:
“Hello. I’m calling for John McCain and the RNC because you need to
know that Barack Obama has worked closely with domestic terrorist
Bill Ayres, whose organization bombed the U.S. capitol, the Pentagon,
a judge’s home and killed Americans. And Democrats will enact an
extreme leftist agenda if they take control of Washington. Barack
Obama and his Democratic allies lack the judgment to lead our
country. This call was paid for by McCain-Palin 2008 and the
Republican National Committee at 202-863-8500.”

Automated telephone calls from Republican John McCain’s presidential campaign continue the effort to link Democratic nominee Barack Obama with one-time Weather Underground leader William Ayers.

The robo calls that began in Nevada, Wisconsin and other targeted states on Thursday, the day after the third and final presidential debate, say Obama “has worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, whose organization bombed the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon, a judge’s home and killed Americans.”

Obama has condemned Ayers’ radical activities, carried out as Obama has said when he was 8. There’s no evidence they were ever close friends or that Ayers advised Obama on policy. Obama has said Ayers has not been involved with the campaign.

During the debate Wednesday, McCain demanded to know the full extent of Obama’s relationship with Ayers.

Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle condemned the calls on Friday.

“We are seeing now in Wisconsin the sort of dying gasps of the McCain campaign,” Doyle said. “It has really run out of steam on the issues that matter to people.”

Doyle called the assertions made in the calls outrageous and false and a distraction from issues that people really care about like the economy.

“It’s pretty obvious now that he doesn’t have any ideas about the economy,” Doyle said of McCain. “He knows he’s out of ideas and out of time.”

McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said the robo calls were warranted because the relationship “raises serious questions about Barack Obama’s judgment and also his candor with the American people about his record.”

But McCain also trails Obama in polls nationally and in several contested states less than three weeks before the election.

Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said the campaign has received calls from people across the country “upset about these negative, despicable ads.”

“Sen. McCain calls Ayers an old, washed-up terrorist. If that’s the case, why is he spending all this money on these nasty, dirty robo calls,” he said.

In 1969, Ayers co-founded the Weather Underground, an anti-Vietnam war group that claimed responsibility for bombing several government buildings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol, though not a judge’s home.

Ayers remained a fugitive for years but surrendered in 1980. Charges against him later were dropped because of prosecutorial misconduct. Eventually, he became a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and lives in Obama’s neighborhood in Chicago.

In 1995, Ayers meet-the-candidate session at his home for Obama as he prepared to run for the Illinois Senate. The two also served on the boards of two nonprofit charitable organizations in Chicago. The city named Ayers its “Citizen of the Year” in 1997 for work on one of those boards.
